June 4th Cold Front

Good morning everyone! It sure is colder here with our morning temperature of 36°F. It is nice and sunny though! A nice wind came in yesterday with the cold front from Canada and brought a high pressure system that cleared our skies.

Oddly enough, the humidity this morning is registering at 96%! Our pond is barely steaming over with fog. Everything is clear today. We might get warmer temps as the warm “buckle” of the jet stream moves West, along with gentle rain, later tonight and tomorrow.

We are having trouble identifying birds lately! We’ve heard lots of new calls but it is trickier to spot them when summer foliage is covering them. Our May bird list is up, and we are hopeful to come up with a good June list as well!

Speaking of birds, a little birdie told me yesterday that the reason we were getting beautiful golden sun sets and sun rises over the weekend was because of all the particles being swept into the area from Alberta forest fires! Apparently this has beeen an extreme fire season.

Our temperature is near a record low (we compared with Norwich, which had a record low of 29°F in 1958!) but it is likely to rise in the 60’s today. It IS a summer month, after all!

Have a great day everyone.

Love,

Mack
